2023 in Review

I know it’s already into the first week of January so maybe this is a bit delayed but who doesn’t love a review? It just seems to capsulate all the feel goods of the season, all the accomplishments, puts everything in perspective and almost gives a marker for further growth. So we’ve compiled our year and not just for the analytical people with stats but also noticing trends. Ready? Here we go!

Over the past year our team created magical hair and makeup looks for 121 breathtaking weddings. Of those 20 would be deemed as destination weddings with our most visited destitution wedding spot was Savannah GA. There were 1299 services that took place over 8 different states ( Maryland, Virginia, DC, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, & Kentucky). We have out largest hair and makeup team to date consisting of 6 hair and makeup artists, 4 makeup artists and 4 hairstylists across 3 home base regions ( Alabama, DMV & Texas ). Airbrush services are now offered in all 3 regions. Extensions were purchase for over 1/3 of our weddings and over 1/2 either wore a veil or a hair accessory or both. Each team member commuted between 3,200-5,400 miles over the last year! The Stylist Abroad hosted our first team retreat July 2023 in Asheville NC so that all the regions could come together, connect, learn new skills, grow and yes, be pampered a little because they’re amazing and deserve it. Every transaction has a small percent taken to go towards donation and this year with your help we donated over $1000 to the Human Rights Campaign. The Stylist Abroad expanded to Austin Texas this year and become a part of Wed Society Austin. We’re hoping that with our expansion to a home based in ATX that we’ll have more destination weddings in Colorado, Utah, Sedona, and Mexico.

Now as for trending styles, of course the half up half down look made it’s regular appearances but it’s a staple that will never go away. We saw a lot of requests for glam or fluffy waves ( glam waves fun sister) even if they were in a half up look. Larger, “chunkier” face framing pieces made a strong appearance and we’re here for it. There’s something undeniably sophisticated about them. The high up “Pamela Anderson” take on a French twist was very popular but we still saw ample low buns as well. We’re shifted from messy boho to polished, ethereal boho and soft glam ( thank the heavens because this is what we’ve always thrived in and enjoyed more). Pearls… are still here ! And bow were predicted to make an appearance but we only saw 1. As for makeup the name of the game is clean skin. Which we have all the high praises for because good makeup starts with good skincare. The ultra minimal skin makeup with soft glam or light neutral eyes was by far the crowd favorite. Sofia Richie and Hailey Bieber were commonly seen in inspiration photos.

That’s 2023 in a very brief, speed reading glance. We want to take a moment to say how grateful we are for all of you. Without YOU none of this would be possible. Without our incredible team we wouldn’t be able to impact the wedding days of so many incredible couples and without you trusting in us we’d have no one to glam. Thank you for trusting us with your special day, the way you’ve envisioned yourself and all that comes with a wedding day. To say it’s hit our core and been simeltaneously an absolute freakin blast is too hard to put into words besides this feeble attempt.

Cheers to a dope 2023 and here’s to a badass 2024! Happy Wedding Day Babes!
